New Motherhood Deserves Pampering from Purity

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Having a baby is actually capable of wreaking havoc on your body in a lot of unexpected ways. For example, you may experience some bruises and soreness around the perineum area. Asides from discomfort, some mothers may also become strangely emotional after giving birth. As a result, new motherhood is an act that definitely deserves some pampering after the fact. Are you already pampering yourself after having recently had a baby? If you are not taking care of your body inside and out after having had a baby, now is the time for you to begin doing so. Here are some things that you can do in order to pamper yourself in celebration of new motherhood.

There are a myriad of different ways that you can pamper yourself. If you enjoy baths, then there are a multitude of different products that you can enjoy in the bath including bath beads, bath bombs, salts and scrubs, special soaps and many other goodies that have wonderful scents and healing qualities to them. Choose products that are more than just a pretty scent - Your best bet is products that are rich in materials like milk, honey and oatmeal, as these are nourishing ingredients that will make you feel magical and wonderful while you are enjoying the pretty fragrances.

Try choosing complementary scents and enjoying a number of different products at once. Choose a fruity bath salt concoction such as strawberries or watermelon, and soak up the scent while enjoying a fruity sugar scrub. Sugar scrubs are outstanding for pampering yourself because they feel great on your skin, exfoliate and also make you feel nourished and moisturized after. You can also chose body washes and soaps that have similarly fruity scents. Rather than choosing the same fragrance for everything, mix up different fruits or different floral scents to fill your bathroom with your favorite scents and really enjoy your bath and the ability to pamper yourself.

When you are pampering yourself with pure thoughts in mind - Consider all natural products and all organic products. These are bath products that choose to use completely natural and organic elements rather than relying on chemicals for colors, scents and cleansers. When you use all natural products, the results are typically quite astounding. You will feel more radiant, more nourished and more pampered than ever before, and all it takes to get you there is a few blissfully scented natural products.

Natural bath goodies and organic bath goodies are full of completely natural ingredients like milk and honey, oatmeal, sunflower oil, jojoba oil, tea tree oil, fruit extracts, essential oils, fruit peels, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and other herbs and spices. What sounds more enjoyable in your bath, a natural sugar scrub that is literally made from real sugar and natural ingredients, or a chemical body cleanser full of ingredients that you cannot spell let alone pronounce? As a new mommy, you deserve the very best - So nourish and pamper yourself with natural and organic skin and body care products.

Types Of Renewable Energy - 4 Ways to Produce Clean Energy

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

As the world’s energy supplies dwindle, it is our duty to start producing renewable energy on a larger scale.

To date there are four main types of renewable energy that we can produce: wind power, solar power, hydro power, and geothermic power.

From The Wind:

Wind turbines have been around for millennia, further back than the birth of Christ. Over the years they have been used to pump water, drag boats and grind flour. But at the turn of the industrial revolution, wind turbines were made to produce electricity.

Although many people envision windmills as those ornate ones in Holland or the small wind-pumps on farms, they have been developed tremendously in the past decade. Now wind turbines are able to generate thousands of megawatts of power, and when used on a small scale at home, wind power can substitute conventional energy sources, helping households to get off the grid.

The Sun:

Sunlight is the most abundant form of energy we have available, so there is no excuse for us not using more of it. But thanks to extensive research and development, we can make use of the sun in various ways - solar heating and passive solar design, solar electric power, and solar cooking and solar drying.

Passive solar design, solar power and solar heating are some of the the best ways to reduce your power consumption at home - these systems need very little upkeep, and they are also great for the environment. Solar cooking is a healthy alternative to using an oven or stove - the food is cooked slowly so more minerals and vitamins are retained, and no electric power is needed. This makes it ideal for camping and outdoor cooking in the summer months.

Hydro Power:

Initially hydro or water power was used industrially in rivers and waterfalls to power waterwheels that would then be used to move water for irrigation or grind flour.

In modern times the power of water is mainly used in to generate hydro-electricity. This is mainly done is large dams, where water is stored and released through small channels. The force of the water through these channels is extremely strong and capable of spinning large turbines, that then generate electric power. An example would be the Hoover Dam that is used primarily to supply Las Vegas with electricity. Over 90% of our renewable energy is generated with hydro-electric dams.

There have been some social and environmental concerns about building dams for hydroelectricity since entire village and communities are flooded by the dam, and the walls prevent certain species of fish from swimming upstream to spawn.

Geothermal Power:

Geothermal power is typically produced in areas with ongoing volcanic activity, where magma is relatively close to the surface. One such area is Iceland, where a large proportion of its power is produced from volcanic geysers.

How geothermal energy basically works is the lava heats a lot of underground water, creating geysers with hot steam. The pressure from the steam is used to spin turbines and generate power. Power plants are usually built right over these geysers, where they reuse the water by pumping it underground to produce more steam. And so the process continues…

This brings us to the end of the various types of renewable energy explored. To find more in-depth information on each source, you can visit our website at DIY-Renewable-Energy dot com.

Ways to Remove Dark Circles Under the Eyes

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

If you’re tired, or aging prematurely, one of the side effects is the appearance of dark circles underneath your eyes. Unfortunately, this is one of the most unwanted facial features because it allows you to show your age and also generally lets people know when you are not getting enough sleep. Luckily, there are steps that you can take in order to remove these dark circles from underneath your eyes, and once you mix them into your daily routine, you will have stunning eyes again without worrying about dark circles anymore.

Improve Nutrition

Eating healthy is not only important for your overall nutrition but also for your eyes. If you eat plenty of vegetables and fruits, which are rich in beta carotene, then you will be promoting healthier eyes. Yes, carrots really do help your eyesight. Carrots, spinach, papaya and mango are all excellent fruits and vegetables for this purpose.

Rest

Sleep truly is one of the most classic treatments for when it comes to overcoming dark circles as well as puffiness around your eyes. Why? Because sleep really does work, and without getting a quality amount of sleep, your face is literally going to sag. When you sleep, your circulation is going to increase through your body including throughout your face and your eyes. You should be sleeping with your head elevated slightly so that fluids will not rest in the eye area of your face.

Cold for your Eyes

Cold temperatures are actually really good for your eyes as they help to reduce tiredness in the eyes and puffiness in the eyes. There are a number of different ways that you can apply something that is cold to your eyes such as cutting potato or cucumber slices and applying them to your eyelids for ten minutes or so for example. You can also apply cold spoons to your eyes or simply splashing your eyes with cold water. This will help you avoid under-eye wrinkles as well as dark circles around your eyes.

Milk

Applying milk to your eyes is actually another remedy for dark circles under the eyes. If you are wearing mascara, then you are probably causing dark circles under your eyes. Milk is a nice safe and natural cleanser for mascara under your eyes. Dip a clean white cotton ball into some milk and gingerly cleanse your eyes. Milk is all natural and will not hurt your eyes the way that chemical makeup removers can.

Rose Water

A great way to get eyes that sparkle while reducing dark circles under the eyes is to drop two drops of pure rose water into your eyes with an eye dropper. This is going to give your eyes a nice natural eye lift that will give your eyes spark and glow like the most attractive people around you.

Moving? Use Recycled Boxes!

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

By Amy Nutt

Congratulations! You have decided to take the plunge and move from one place to another. It might be for financial reasons or it might be for familial reasons, but the fact of the matter is that you are reading this article because you have made that decision. You are now ready to go forward, but there is still the logistical matter of actually packing everything and moving it to another location to deal with. If this is something that worries you, it is always worthwhile to consider ways that your moving can be gentler on the environment. It might not decrease the worry about moving, but it will certainly make you feel better in other ways.

Recycled Boxes

One of the best ways in which you can make your move more environmentally friendly would be to use recycled boxes. Use recycled boxes in all of your packing endeavours, taking with them all of the different things that you were going to move anyway. This is an idea that does not occur to a lot of people, but it is also one that is very easy to institute. It is a good example of an action that is environmentally friendly while at the same time just being a very easy thing to do.

A lot of people that are in a position to do this actually shy away from doing it because they feel that recycled boxes would not really change anything. If you are thinking this right now, go and take a look at all of the things that you have to pack. Then, take a look at the size of the recycled boxes. Doing some mental math, come up with the number of recycled boxes you would need in order to support the move. Then, imagine everyone else that moves doing the same thing. You’ll realize right away that actions like these would add up to something immense if everyone did them. Therefore, you should use recycled boxes when you are moving.

No Downside

Truth be told, it is hard to understand why someone would not want to use recycled boxes in their move. The fact of the matter is that there is no actual downside to moving with recycled boxes at the current moment in time. In fact, if you don’t have any boxes to use (which most people do not when they initially think about moving), you are actually not doing anything out of the ordinary by moving with recycled boxes. Instead of going to get normal boxes, you go to a different place and get recycled ones. Aside from that, everything else is exactly the same. There is no downside in exchange for the amazing upside of helping the environment out in a significant way.

Conclusion

The fact of the matter is that sometimes doing things to help the environment can be so ridiculously easy. This is one of those cases. If you have children, you certainly care about the state the world will be in when they are adults. Help take baby steps in the right direction today by using recycled boxes when you move.

Eco-Friendly Bags: A Convenient Option When Shopping

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

By Amy Nutt,

In recent years, the world has become much more environmentally conscious place. This is due to research showing the negative impact of such conditions as global warming, diminishing natural resources, and the widespread destruction of our natural environment. Now, individuals and companies are looking for ways to create a much more environmentally friendly world. One way retailers and individuals are helping the planet and its resources are replacing traditional plastic shopping bags with eco-friendly bags.

Reusable eco-friendly bags are a convenient and environmentally friendly option when shopping. According to the Food Marketing Institute, “the average American walks away from the grocery store with 5 to 10 bags each trip. This adds up to 600 – 1 200 bags per year.” The Australian Government in 2002 identified “that if a consumer used reusable bags for 1 year they would consume only 9% of the energy and produce only 10% of the greenhouse emission of plastic bags.” As well, according to the American Forest and Paper Association, “In 1999, the U.S. alone used 10 billion paper grocery bags.” This is a huge amount of trees being destroyed.

The best alternative when shopping is using eco-friendly reusable bags. These bags are available in many forms and sizes to meet every shopper’s needs. Sizes can range from a small tote bag to extra large bags, allowing shoppers to carry a wide range of items. They are also available in a variety of designs and colors. It is a cost effective method of shopping and convenient because all that one has to do is return the bags to their vehicle when they have finished using them.

Quality eco-friendly bags are made of materials that do not harm the environment during their production. They are biodegradable so there are no damaging chemicals in the bags. You will not have to worry about leaving a negative impact on the environment. Many of these bags are made of 100% durable cotton with strong reinforced straps. As well, the canvas shopping reusable bags provide an easy and cost-efficient way of reducing your impact on the environment. The best part is they do not have to be thrown away after use.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, “more than 380 billion plastic bags are used in the United States every year. Of those, approximately 100 billion are plastic shopping bags, which cost retailers about $4 billion annually.” The production of plastic bags eats up millions of gallons of oil and manufacturing paper bags has a devastating effect on the forests. As well, it can take up to a thousand years to break down while toxins from the bags leak into the ground and contaminate the environment. Fortunately, there are many online and traditional stores that offer a broad range of eco-friendly reusable bags. Prices vary so you will find bags within your budget and meet your shopping needs. Using eco-friendly reusable bags is a convenient, cost-cutting, and environmentally friendly way of shopping. It is no longer a “paper or plastic” shopping experience. Now, we can say, “No thank you, I have my own eco-friendly reusable bag.”

Greenhouse Laws are Introduced

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

As we look back to the start of the industrial age and assess how we have developed as a society since then, we can certainly point to some amazing developments and technological strides forward, in what is a relatively short space of time. Since we learned that we could use the fossil fuels readily found around us as a means of generating power, which in itself leads to so many other applications, we have not looked back. However, it is true to say that we are now in a position to realize what this heady growth has meant to us in terms of potentially catastrophic climate change caused by our actions.

The byproduct of using fossil fuels for energy production (and subsequent use and consumption) was a significant release of damaging gases to the environment. Large volumes of these gases caused a warming effect in the atmosphere and over time a considerable imbalance in the natural scheme of things. As a society, we must reverse this trend and this has led to the introduction of greenhouse laws to control the dangerous greenhouse gases.

Carbon dioxide equivalent gases are the main target of greenhouse laws as these products are very dangerous. A threat exists to all forms of life on the planet, as patterns change and weather events intensify. Those who are deemed to be the largest culprits, the biggest emitters of gases will be in the crosshairs of this new legislation and they will be forced to seek alternative methods of energy production.

Significant goals have been set by the UK government when it comes to reducing carbon emissions. It is intended that they will be reduced by as much as 80% within the next 40 years. To start the ball rolling, mandatory laws will come into place in that country in 2010 and 2011, requiring the major contributors to the problem to get their house in order.

A cunning “cap and trade” scheme will effectively force large emitters of carbon gases to reduce their figures, as a consequence of a value being placed on carbon itself. The scheme is part of the greenhouse laws being introduced in Britain and once the administration sets an overall limit on the total amount of gases that are permissible, market-driven forces will take care of the rest.

Unfortunately, goodwill alone is not enough to prompt major emitters of carbon to alter their ways of doing business. The British Carbon Reduction Commitment is one of the first steps in a government intervention. By structuring an approach this way, it is felt that the new greenhouse laws will have a great effect on the overall problem facing the climate.

Environmentalists and scientists have long said that we need to take a serious look at the problem of climate change, although it has only been in recent times that governments have come on board. In the 90s, the Kyoto Protocol was the first significant step in the right direction but many countries did not actively follow up on their initial enthusiasm. To make any real changes work, mandatory greenhouse laws will undoubtedly be very likely.

United States is seen as being behind its expected position and a variety of excuses have been rolled out by the US administration over time. There is some debate as to whether the country will take greenhouse laws being debated in Congress seriously and whether they will ever see the light of day.

What You Didn’t Know About The Food We Eat

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

To build up your body, you need to eat four to six meals of small proportions that are high in protein and spaced out over a two to three hour span each day. This enhances your metabolism and reduces body fat.

A typical nutritious meal that helps you build your body would include a combination of vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats and proteins; antioxidants are also vital because they improve the immune system.

Antioxidants are essential to the body because they eliminate free radicals in the body that can cause a host of cancerous diseases. Vitamin C is a powerful source of these anti oxidants.

Having a teenager in the home can be a serious cause of concern or worry because teenager’s eating habits tend to be erratic and it is extremely hard to monitor what kind of meals they eat; this problem can be solved with the purchase of dietary supplements that provide the nourishment their bodies need.

The importance of carbohydrates in diet cannot be underemphasized because they are a source of fuel (energy) for the cells in the body and in the body as a whole; carbohydrates consist of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen and can be found in foods that contain sugars, fibers and starch.

More and more people are turning to dietary supplements to make up for inadequate diet in a bid to meet the recommended dietary allowance in the body. The dietary supplements actually allows you to reduce your dependence on food sources for the right nutrition.

Vitamins are of different types and have different functions in the body; vitamin A is excellent for vision while vitamin E and C helps in fighting diseases. An adequate intake of these vitamins will ensure that your health overall is secure.

Antioxidants are essential to the body because they eliminate free radicals in the body that can cause a host of cancerous diseases. Vitamin C is a powerful source of these anti oxidants.

An appropriate weight loss programe should be one that focuses on burning fat and this can be achieved through active exercise and proper nutrition.

A pregnant woman needs a healthy balanced diet more than anyone because her health ultimately affects the health of the fetus; an important element that needs to be taken with regularity is folic acid, which derives its potency from preventing spine or birth detects in the baby. Leafy green vegetables are an excellent source of folic acid.

Green Energy Technology And How You Can Benefits From This

Monday, September 28th, 2009

The impact that pollution has on the environment is not a secret. This tragedy needs to be discussed at every dinner table on a daily basis. Family’s can come up with ways to conserve energy at home or even better find ways to create and use green energy solutions. These solutions are available to every person that really wants to make a positive impact on the current pollution problem.

While the glaciers are melting the amount of water in the oceans are rising. There is a simple alternative to this. With the water sheds in the Northern part of the continent being polluted and diminishing, how about filtering the ocean water, and replenishing the water shed sources. Salt water is easily distilled into drinking water. All it needs is boiled for a length of time, and then the salty water of the ocean will be clean and pure to drink. This is the natural concept of the underground water geysers as in Yellow Stone National Park. These hot springs clean salt water into fresh water naturally.

Heating is one of the leading causes of deadly toxic pollution being released into the air. The exhaust from forced air furnaces that burn kerosene, oil, or diesel fuels release a high amount of carbon which is what adds fuel to the global warming fire. One green energy solution to eco friendly heating is by using the sun. The sun can provide enough heat all year around to heat any size building.

Alas, the electricity subject. Electricity is the cause of most of the waste products that sit in landfill for a long period of time. The newest member to the team of green energy solutions is the zero point energy generators. This generator is safe, can work in under any weather conditions, and can generate as much power as the electric company. This mechanism is also very affordable.

Farmers can express their green energy solutions by putting up a wind mill. The wind mill relies on wind to create energy that can supply enough power for an entire farm. There are funding opportunities designed specifically for farms as an incentive to get more farmers to do it. Global warming is a big problem, which just keeps getting bigger.

Some people refuse to recycle for the simple fact that opinions have been led to believe that recycled products are not as durable as original products. Simple advice to that is plastic replaced several metal products, and metal was originally better, so if it is plastic to begin with it isn’t durable and recycling will not jeopardize the quality of the product any more than it has been already.

Pesticides play a big role on the pollution set. People should resort to the old fashioned way of pulling weeds or killing bugs. Pesticides filter into the ground and reach underground water supplies creating bad water. Also the food produced by the use of pesticides will cause cancer.

The best thing for everyone to do is create your own green energy solutions that resolve individual energy problems.

Beautify your Skin. Organic Skin Care is what it Deserves

Monday, September 28th, 2009

There is a multitude of different ways that you can beautify your skin from head to toe, but the best way is always to use products that are natural, healthy for your skin and in most cases, organic.

Face it, organic skin care is the very best that skin care has to offer, and this is exactly what your skin deserves. So if you want to beautify your skin the right way, you should be using organic skin care products that promote health and beauty in a natural way.

If you are part of that truly large percentage of women that are experiencing skin sensitivity issues, then organic skin care is likely going to be the perfect answer for you. Organic skin care formulas are rich in fruit extracts, natural essential oils and a number of other natural and organic ingredients that have very little history of ever causing an unpleasant reaction or activating irritation or redness of the skin. What this means is that potentially, organic skin care products can be the skin care regimen solution that you have been looking for all along.

Make sure that you are thoroughly reading all of the labels and understanding all of the ingredients contained within organic skin care products that you choose even if you do not have skin sensitivity issues. Just because the products are organic, that does not mean that there won’t be an ingredient in there that you just happen to be allergic to. Understanding what you are applying to your body is vitally important, so you should not simply trust the “certified organic” label, but rather actually take the time to get to know the products that you are using.

Organic skin care products such as natural body washescontain a lot of really natural ingredients. You are more likely to find milk, oatmeal, honey and cinnamon than long and confusing chemical names that leave you scratching your head. What would you rather rub on your skin, milk and honey or phthalates?

Organic skin care is good both for your body and our environment, because anything that does not contain chemical compounds and additives is going to break down much more easily without causing any harm to animals, flowers, trees or the environment in general. If you have not already tried out organic skin care products, then what are you waiting for? Now is the chance for you to beauty your skin while giving your face and your body a real taste of what nature is all about. Nothing is capable of nourishing your body as effectively as organic skin care products, because no product could be as natural or nourishing as a product that is filled with elements from the earth and the environment like fruit extracts, natural essential oils and elements like milk, honey, sugar and spices for example.

The Environment is Relying on a Cap and Trade Carbon System

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Ever since the slow realization set in and we began to understand that our conspicuous consumption over the decades has led to serious damage to our environment, as a society we have been looking for ways to turn it around. Certainly, the problem is gigantic as we are very reliant on the use of fossil fuels for our energy. The subsequent emission of dangerous greenhouse gases has caused a considerable problem and must be addressed.

Few would disagree that greenhouse gas damage has been caused to our environment and many of us can already see the adverse climate problems that have been caused. However, it will need the action of governments to force change in such a way as to be effective. This change is coming however as a cap and trade carbon system has just been introduced by the British which will effectively force the largest consumers of energy to change their ways and reduce their output of carbon emissions.

The UK government reckons that the Carbon Reduction Commitment will be highly effective in reducing the overall volume of greenhouse gases emitted to the atmosphere. This cap and trade carbon system will ultimately place a limit on the overall amount of gas emissions, forcing individual organizations to trade within an active market for the right to emit at all.

The cap and trade carbon system is basically a hybrid of a concept that’s been around for a long time. In this case though, carbon itself is being developed into a commodity and this is a very new approach. It is felt that a natural reduction will be achieved by forcing the largest consumers to include carbon as a cost within their operations. There is a lot of interest in this British program as many other governments around the world are likely to adopt similar ideas.

The major producers of greenhouse gases in the UK, approximately 5000 of them, have been targeted by the British government to participate in the new cap and trade carbon system. When the program really gets under way, they must actively reduce their own carbon footprint or face significant penalties. The actual value of the carbon allowances that they have to purchase will increase over time and poor performance will be viewed by society as a whole in a negative way.

The Carbon Reduction Commitment is aiming squarely at the year 2050 and programs have been designed to take the project up to that point, reducing carbon emissions by 80%. Hopefully, this will contain and even reverse some of the worst damage to our environment that has been caused by greenhouse gas emissions.

The cap and trade carbon system adopted by the British may well appear in the United States as well, as legislation being considered in mid to late 2009 seeks to adopt a similar program.

While it is unrealistic to expect companies and individuals to make significant attempts to reduce their carbon footprints without encouragement by the government, the jury is still out as to whether a cap and trade carbon system is the right approach or not.
